Customers want to know if their larger material will fit in Emerald’s kettle. Emerald’s kettle size is 10’-0” long x 2’-6” wide x 4’-0” deep. If at least two of the dimensions (length, width, or depth) of your fabrication are smaller than 2’-6” we can galvanize your product in a single (or one) dip. Larger fabrications up to 15’-0” long can be double dipped, which is sometimes called progressive dipping. When Emerald double dips a fabrication, we dip approximately one half of the length of the structure in our kettle first and then turn it around to dip the other half of the length of the structure. Double dipping creates a faint gray line where the two dippings meet which is lightly sanded down in our finishing area to make the line less visable. The galvanizing quality of double dipping is just as good as single dipping but for architectural applications single dipping is preferred.
