What We Galvanize
Emerald specializes in galvanizing smaller parts, hardware, and fabrications which are usually difficult and often not economical to galvanize in a large kettle. We also galvanize light to medium weight fabrications and anchor chain. See below for chain pricing.
Most small parts (including all small threaded parts) are run in our perforated buckets and then are centrifuged immediately after hot dip galvanizing. The centrifuge rapidly spins the buckets to remove excess zinc. The centrifuge process keeps sharp edges from forming on fabrications and keeps bolt threads clean. This saves you labor charges to clean up parts.
Larger fabrications are usually wired or chained up before lowering them into the kettle for galvanizing. Our overhead cranes slowly lift these fabrications out of the molten zinc at an angle so that excess zinc runs off. Our galvanizers are experts.
Typical types of producst we galvanize include:
The minimum diameter for galvanizing fasteners is 3/8” and the minimum size for galvanizing wood screws is #18. Bolts and chains up to a Rockwell hardness grade of 40 are usually acceptable to galvanize. Call us for our advice on other grades.
Calculate your own estimate on chain:
Emerald charges $1.10 per lb. for galvanizing chain. It's the same price for anchors. We only galvanize up to 300 ft. at one time, if your chain is 3/8" or less. Chain over 3/8" will need to be cut in half so that we put less chain into our centrifuge at one time. The less chain we put through the process, the higher the quality. We can cut your chain for you, and refer you to a steel shop that can re-link it for you with a galvanized link.
